Ooze Electro Barrel Review

Overview

The Ooze Electro Barrel is an e-rig powered by a C-Core Onyx atomizer, with an azul ceramic dish priced at $68 (buy here). Besides the discreet look, simplicity and compact size, it also has a battery capacity of 2000mAh which lasts a few sessions. The device overall provides an excellent experience which we go over in the following review. 

In the Box

The Ooze Electro Barrel comes in a compact box including 

• the e-rig
• two onyx atomizers 
• a small metal dab tool 
• a pack of isopropyl soaked q-tips 
• the type-c charging cable  
• your 1 year warranty.

Everything included is all you would need to start vaping as soon as you open the box. No torch needed. It even displays simple to follow instructions on the inside of the box. You can also order extra Onyx Atomizers or replacement parts on their website, including a replacement kit fit for the e-rig which is convenient. 

Design

The design of the E-rig itself is easy to use, it has the removable mouthpiece, the singular button, the charging port, the led light and the glass water chamber. The Onyx Atomizer is the bowl you screw in with the azul ceramic dish bottom that evenly distributes the heat on your dabs even providing bigger clouds and stronger flavors. And it has a resistance of 0.8 ohms, making it Sub-ohm. The low resistance is what gives you more flavorful dabs and the ability to produce big clouds. The lid also features a small hole meant to control the airflow with your finger like a carb cap. The device turns on and off with 5 clicks and 3 clicks changes the temperature between green (204-260C), blue(260-315C), and red(315-371C). It also stays on the last heat level used, so keep that in mind if you end off on a high heat session. 

Key features

One key feature is the safe sesh cycle; Available for all 3 heat levels, even making the cycle longer based on the heat level. Each safe sesh has a preheat time and sesh time:

Green, preheat 15 sec, 15 sec sesh time

Blue, preheat 20 sec, 15 sec sesh time

Red, preheat 20 sec, 20 sec sesh time 

Another key feature is pass through charging, which means you can keep using the e-rig even while it’s charging. However the pass through charging is only compatible if you use the charger they provide. Otherwise without the correct cable, it takes about 4 hours to fully charge without using it.    

Performance 

The C-Core Onyx Atomizer powers the device providing an even heat giving you flavorful and potent hits for the whole sesh, with a group or by yourself. And because of the azul ceramic dish very little residue is left behind leaving you less clean up between hits. This is especially nice because you get the last bit of all your dabs. However, one issue I had was that after enough usage it gets clogged somewhere inside you can’t reach. Otherwise I would say it works very well for the size and portability. It provides clouds you wouldn’t expect to get from such a small device, you almost forget you’re using an e-rig. The water filtration is also amazing for the hits, making the hits smoother. 

How to get started

1. To start, you have to screw the atomizer in upon opening the lid
2. Fill the water chamber about half way and load the concentrate into the Onyx Atomizer
3. Once you're ready, turn the device on with 5 clicks and set your temp with 3 clicks 
4. Next you can either try manual mode which consists of controlling the button by hand, or you can start with the safe sesh mode which starts with 2 clicks and shuts itself off once the cycle is complete.

How to clean your Ooze Electro Barrel

Cleaning the device consists of the Onyx Atomizer, the glass water chamber, the straw and mouthpiece. You can use a isopropyl soaked q tip that they provide to clean the atomizer and the mouthpiece, otherwise the straw downstem and the glass water chamber can just soak in cleaner or you can use a small bristle brush to try to clean the glass downstem but use caution because you don’t want to break it. If you manage to break any pieces though, they do have the replacement kit mentioned previously. I noticed that after a few days the glass water chamber does get stained with extract as well but with a small brush and some isopropyl alcohol and some salt it comes out mostly. 

Final conclusion

I would recommend the Ooze Electro Barrel to anyone interested in a compact, easy-to-use and portable e-rig. It’s great for people just getting into extracts or long time users because the hits feel like an actual glass rig and with the portability it makes for an excellent travel buddy. Especially for those looking for big clouds and big tastes. I’d also say it’s budget friendly compared to other e-rigs like the puffco at around 400, whereas the Ooze Electro Barrel retails at $68 (buy here). But overall, a great budget friendly option for an e-rig designed for just about anyone to use and enjoy.
