Official Accessories

The AirVape X features a lot of great accessories. There is the water bubbler set that allows you to use water filtration to cool down the vapor. That feature is mainly for hardcore vapers since it kills one of the X’s strongest features, which is its easy portability.

If you want to enhance portability then you can get the X Shell silicon sleeve. It gives the vape full body protection that increases durability as well as portability. The X shell easily slips onto the X and maintains its slim profile while providing extra impact and splash protection. If you purchase an AirVape X after June 1, 2019, then it will have the X Shell already included in its kit.

There is also a more conventional silicon sleeve that provides a stronger, more heat resistant grip to the device. Since the battery life of the AirVape X is relatively poor, there are several different kinds of chargers available to keep it juiced up. There are also replacement parts available for all of the various accessories and components included in the kit of the X.

Design & Features

AirVape X Review

The Airvape X is one of the thinnest dry herb vaporizers I’ve encountered so far. In profile, it’s just as narrow as any e-cig, though it does get a little wider at the top third of the device, which is where the herb chamber is located. That overall slimness also means that the X is pretty light, which makes carrying it around even easier. However, it isn’t so light that it feels insubstantial, it is actually a pretty solid feeling device thanks to its steel construction. The X is four inches tall and less than an inch wide at its narrowest point, so portability is not an issue here.

The X is a mid-tier vaporizer and it has all the features that we’ve come to expect from vapes in this price range. That means precise temperature control, a clear, informative LED display that shows battery life, temperature, and time, and, of course, haptic feedback. These are all great features, but you should know that the LED screen has a mirrored surface that can make it difficult to read under bright lights.

Airvape X herb chamber
The magnetic lid is easily removed to reveal the herb chamber.

The AirVape X has a magnetic lid that is very easy to remove, which makes it extremely simple to use, even for first time vapers. It feels secure when attached to the rest of the device, but you won’t have any problems removing it when it’s time to load or empty the ceramic chamber. The chamber has an oval shape, which makes sense, since the slim design would be difficult to maintain with a more rounded herb chamber.

The chamber holds a good amount of herb and is simple to fill. The wide, slim, ceramic mouthpiece follows the design trend of the rest of the device and inhaling from it feels very comfortable. Overall, the AirVape X is a good-looking, beginner-friendly vaporizer.

How to use

Airvape X dual use vaporizer
The chamber can comfortably hold a decent amount of herb.
  1. Remove the magnetic mouthpiece to expose the herb chamber.
  2. Load the herb chamber and then replace the mouthpiece.
  3. Press the power button three times to turn on the device.
  4. Select the temperature using the up and down buttons.
  5. Heating completion is indicated by the device vibrating, at which point you can inhale from the mouthpiece.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Cleaning the herb chamber can be tricky because of its oval shape. That is because it’s a slim oval so using a cleaning brush on the narrower points can be a little difficult. However, the X is otherwise a pretty low-maintenance device.

Performance & Vapor Quality

Airvape X herb compatibility
The AirVape X’s performance with dry herb is very good.

Vaporizer Performance: The X only takes twenty seconds to heat up, which is on the fast side for weed vaporizers. It doesn’t get too hot to the touch while in use either, so it’s a pretty comfy vape to use overall.

Vapor Quality: The vapor produced by the X is very flavorful, it can’t quite match the vapor quality of the really expensive weed vapes but it is among the best in this price range. The ceramic chamber and the ceramic mouthpiece work in concert to keep the vapor pure and tasty. The mouthpiece also does a solid job of keeping the vapor cool despite the short airpath.

For me, the ideal temperatures are in the 350° to 390° range, anything below this range and the flavor isn’t as strong, anything higher and the vapor gets too harsh. Unfortunately, the temperature never gets high enough to properly vape any wax concentrates. So even though the X is listed as a dual-use vaporizer, its concentrate performance is essentially an afterthought. Use an actual wax vape for your concentrates.

Battery Performance: The slim design means that the X can’t have a substantial battery. The performance of the 1300 mAh battery is a mix of the good and the bad. The bad is that it only lasts for about an hour, which is very short for a weed vape. The good is that it only takes about eighty minutes to charge and that pass through charging is possible.

Air Vape X vs Linx Gaia vs Planet of the Vapes One Vaporizer

The Gaia is an interesting wax vaporizer that has a quartz lined herb chamber that produces flavorful vapor. It also has a glass mouthpiece to keep that vapor cool. The One is a small, pocket-friendly vaporizer that also has a glass mouthpiece so it provides cool, flavorful vapor when it’s used. The X has the smallest battery of the three, but that is offset by it also having the second shortest charge time.
