The SMOK Alien 220W Kit is the newest addition to a long series of top quality vaping products from Asian maker SMOK. Design and Functions

alien-220w-baby-beastThe Alien 220W mod is undeniably the spotlight with this set. I can say that this device is probably their best looking one yet. Measuring 30mm in thickness, 44mm in length, and just 85mm tall, the Alien is remarkably compact. Design-wise, SMOK was inspired from other popular mods. Like the P4U iPV 6/6X mods and also the Siegelei 213. But the new flagship from SMOK has quite a lot of unique features that will help it to stand out from the rest of its competitors.

One of these attributes is the firing bar that SMOK has been employing on its mods as a substitute towards the basic power button. It was released on the X-Cube 2, and since then it became the standard design for SMOK. In my past reviews of SMOK devices using the firing bar such as the OSUB 40W, always raised the matter of unintended firing, either keeping it in a decent wallet or when holding the device. Although, simply locking the device might prevent it from occurring, but sometimes we tend to forget it. The firing bar on the Alien 220W requires a firm pressure to activate, so the odds of firing the device by mistake are really low. It might take a while to get used to it, but it does fix the accidental firing issue.

SMOK Alien 220W

SMOK Alien 220W Mod

Another distinct feature of the Alien 220W that no other mod has. Is its large OLED screen that displays tons of useful information at the same time. You have the wattage or temperature setting, the selective SMOK vaping effect (Soft, Normal, Hard), the charge level of each 18650 battery, real-time voltage, the resistance of the atomizer, the amperage, the temperature of the internal motherboard of these devices, a puff counter, and, finally, a puff timer. Although this feature comes with the little drawback, making the display appear cluttered and confusing-at-first, but after you become accustomed to the placement of every field on the display, you’ll start to recognize and appreciate the availability of all this info at the press of a button.

Right under the huge display, you have a micro-USB for firmware upgrades, as well as two adjustable button interface. Take note, that the USB port cannot be used for charging, so you must consider getting an external battery charger. The two tiny adjustable buttons are constructed out from plastic and are stiff same as the firing bar. No annoying rattling, even if you shake hard.
The only CON of the Alien 220W that is worth mentioning is its battery door. After receiving it and open, I quickly realized that the doorway was unusually loose. But it all made sense once I inserted dual 18650 batteries, the wobbling effect disappears.

Here are the technical specifications of the Smok Alien Mod kit:

Performance

Baby Beast Tank

SMOK TVG Baby Beast Tank

I have been using the SMOK Alien kit for about two weeks now, and so far I haven’t encountered any major issues. The long firing delay that used to plague SMOK vaporizers is no more – I also noticed in my recent review of the OSUB 40W – it performs fantastic in wattage mode and appears to be very accurate, the same as other recently release SMOK mods.
Does it certainly go all the way up to 220W? Well, you can scroll all the way up to 220 watts with the adjustable buttons, but I really couldn’t tell you my experience. Since I never raise the bar over 90 watts my whole life. I just don’t see any sense of that much power.

The firing bar is stringent but very functional, so as the two adjustment buttons. I actually examined the short-circuit protection to check if it fires, and I got the warning message on the display the moment I squeezed the firing bar. The reverse battery protection works completely too, and you can find other safety features that I haven’t tested yet such as – weak battery protection, high battery voltage protection, low atomizer resistance protection, high atomizer resistance protection, system overheating protection, and low e-liquid protection for temperature control mode.

The Vape Guide Recommends the Alien 220W Kit for:

The SMOK Alien kit is actually a truly solid kit. The Alien 220W mod is probably the most compact in the dual-18650 mod category, the aesthetic look of the Alien 220W is outstanding in my opinion. The Baby Beast is a great addition to the large family of SMOK tanks, featuring a mess-free refill system, ample airflow control, and a wide variety of coil heads.

Where to buy the Alien 220W Kit:

If you’re planning on upgrading or are on the lookout for a high-quality 2-in-1 kit, I definitely recommend buying the SMOK Alien 220W from VaporDNA.

Just an FYI, you can charge through the mini usb as I am doing it this very minute. Picked this up today on recommendations from my vape store guy. Glad to see it is so highly reviewed, looking forward to leaning the in’s and out’s of this little power house

i have an alien 220w , well i pluged it into a car charger , the screen turned into an illusion couldn’t see anything maybe the power on my car wasn’t enough or too high for the mod , and then when the time saver ends my mod shuts down , with a click it shows “Smok 1.2.1” and don’t show “Alien” and turns off again , if i hyperquik press 5 times like usual it turn on but i can’t plug the charge once i pluged it the screen stops and nothing works once i pluged it off , it works normally but with the shut down instead of the screen sleep .. I Reaaly need help ! is there no reset , or it can be a hardware damage ?

Sorry, I disagree. Had this kit for over 5 months now and can safely say that you can charge via the USB, AND it evenly charges both batteries.

I just received my SMOK Alien Stormtrooper edition. While I am completely satisfied with the build quality, ergonomics and overall aesthetics I am, however, somewhat underwhelmed with the color scheme. It shouldn’t be classified as a storm trooper mod because it’s not very stormtroopy. Stormtroopers are primarily white with black lines. This could have easily been remedied by using a white panel in place of the black carbon fiber panel on the back.

Overall I love this mod! And just incase you might be thinking I was coerced under duress by my girlfriend to write about the lack of ‘Stormtroopiness’ I can assure you I was not. Completely my own complaint. Seriously.

Real review, its garbage! Chances are, the paint will just peel off the mod. Mine was in 2 weeks from new. The tank leaks, vape production is poor. 0.15Ohm octocoils burn out in 2 days at 78 watts. You can balance charge it at 1amp. Most “real devices”can charge at 2amps. The sigeli 213 fuchai is a far better mod and cheaper. Smok was smart, they give you a tank with the mod so you would buy it thinking you got a good deal. If only the tanks paint would peel to match the mod again.

Superhappy with mine. No leakage and I leave mine in my jacket pocket at times wth keys and change and my cellphone. Lots to bang around ..and no wet spots.maybe the nice clasp on the top fill hasn’t been locked in place properly. Or you’ve got gunk in there? Flavor is awesome..clouds are perfect..nice vape all around. Was gonna buy a fuchai but am happy I got this. Btw it’s always best to charge batteries out of unit ( you do get better power in less time, and you won’t wear out the connection like cellphones sometimes will..but it’s not needed..but I would do it if I had the choice.)

Does anybody know how to max out the puffs so it won’t stop working on me when I hit the puffs on the counter?

This thing is a complete piece of garbage. I had to take my first one back because the clips for the battery cover broke, and the battery cover wouldn’t stay shut.

The coil life is garbage. I get about 3 days. And when they burn, they go from fine to absolutely horrible in a matter of a few pulls. No milking a coil for a day or anything, they go really bad really quick.

The new one I just got for free replacing my broken one (I’d never have paid to get another one of these pieces of crap), the stock coil has gone in 2 days, so I go to replace it, and the coil is installed so tight it’s literally impossible to get off. Like fused in there. I’ll have to wait until I get home to use a vise in a pliers and try. I’ve tried freezing it, wrapping vape bands around it, etc. It is totally locked in there.

Spend a little extra, and get something better – this thing is a POS

Hmm … great and not so great reviews .. so far I am satisfied with my purchase … seems to be a durable unit and flavour produced in any of my tanks has been awesome ..I would however get someone who knows the unit well and has a better working knowledge of the English language to re-write the User Manual … the one supplied is pure garbage … the unit itself has enough complexity to warrant a readable referance ….Cheerz!
