Design and Features
The Regen looks similar to many of Yocan’s other vape pens like the Evolve Plus XL or the Magneto. That means it is a little wider in circumference than your typical vape pen, but still very portable since it is only about four inches tall. The Regen also has a wide, magnetically attached mouthpiece that is also typical of the brand. The same goes for the built-in storage container on the base of the vaporizer, a nice touch because it cuts down on the number of accessories that you need to carry around.
Like most vape pens. the Regen has a single power button that also controls the voltage selection. Above that hexagonal button are three small lights that indicate the current voltage level. It’s a simple, clean design that isn’t too flashy but certainly gets the job done. The Regen’s big feature is that it includes two different atomizers, a dual-quartz coil and a triple-quartz coil. That means it is meant for more intense users rather than the casual vaper. It is made from stainless steel so it’s a pretty solid device.
The two included high-intensity coils are the main feature here, though you shouldn’t discount the built-in silicone storage jar as well.
How to Use
- Attach the atomizer of your choosing to the battery.
- Remove the mouthpiece from the atomizer.
- Dab your wax onto the atomizer coils and then replace the mouthpiece.
- Press the power button five times to turn on the device.
- Press the power button three times to select a voltage.
- Once heating is complete, inhale from the mouthpiece.
Cleaning and Maintenance
The dual and triple-quartz coils of the Regen can take a while to clean. That is because those types of coils are more difficult to clean than the sink-like coils of ceramic and quartz atomizers. As with every type of atomizer, you will need a cotton swab or q-tip soaked in isopropyl alcohol to clean it out. However, with the quartz coils, that process can take a little longer since you need to be more careful.
Performance and Vapor Quality
The Regen heats up very quickly, especially with the triple quartz coil. The battery doesn’t get too hot, but the mouthpiece can, especially if you use the triple quartz coil on the higher voltage settings.
As you would expect from a vaporizer that features two different quartz coil atomizers, the Regen hits pretty hard, fortunately it produces some good flavor as well. You’ll get the better flavor from the dual quartz coil since the flavor won’t be overpowered by the harshness of the vapor, at least on the two lowest voltage settings of 3.0V and 3.5V. You will get a lot of the flavor notes while enjoying some pretty big clouds. But if you want even bigger clouds, then you should crank it up to 4.0V, the highest of the three settings. The flavor won’t be as strong but the clouds certainly will be.
If you want even more intense vapor, then you should select the triple quartz coil. At any of the voltage settings, you will get very intense vapor and really thick, dense clouds that you can cut with a knife. You won’t get a whole lot of flavor though, so make sure that you’re in a cloud-chasing mood when you use the triple quartz coil.
The Regen has a 1100 mAh battery that can last for a day or two of moderate vaping. Since these quartz coil atomizers heat up quickly, the battery doesn’t last as long as it would in other types of atomizers that heat up more slowly.
