Review Summary

4.4/5

The Tronian lives up to its “budget beast” label and provides good performance and premium features at a fair, affordable price. The oven is perfectly sized for a solo session and has a wide, open design that makes cleaning and loading super easy. It uses a hybrid heating system that provides consistent results and good efficiency. The Tronian is one of the best beginner dry herb vape you can get under $100.

Background

The Millatron is Tronians first dry herb vape, and it was released together with the Tronian Gammatron Dab Pen. It is a budget-friendly vape that retails for $110 at vape-smart (-10% with coupon TVG10), and it has a bunch of features you wouldn't expect to see at this price point.

I've been using it for a couple of weeks and have some good things and some bad to say about this vape, but overall it is clear that a lot of design and engineering went into this vape.

Design & Features

The Tronian has a sleek modern look, and it feels pretty dense and well-balanced while holding. It easily fits in my palm, and it has these cutouts all around that make it feel ergonomic and tactile.

The front of the vape has an OLED screen and three buttons- power and up/down buttons. The bottom has a USB-C port and air intake holes.

Mouthpiece:

The mouthpiece sits on top and can be twisted off to reveal the chamber that's directly under it. The mouthpiece has a screen and an assembly that is supposed to cool down the vape and make it more enjoyable.

Aluminum oven:

The Tronian has an Aluminum oven that fits 0.2-0.25 grams of dry herb. It uses a convection/conduction hybrid heating system, so it is best to pack it tight but still allow for airflow to pass through the herb.

The top is shaped like a funnel, so loading it is super easy, and the herb slides right down.

One thing that I really like about this oven is that it is wide. Some vapes, such as DaVicni IQ and Zeus GTS, have long and narrow ovens, which can restrict airflow and be harder to clean. The Tronian uses an oven design that is more similar to the Pax or the Crafty- it is a round, wide oven.

Hybrid heating:

The Millatron uses a hybrid convection/conduction heating system. This means that the herb is heated by contact with the oven (conduction) and by hot air passing through it to extract the active compounds (convection). Other notable hybrid vapes are The Crafty+ and the Utillian 722

Usage & Interface

The Millatron is pretty simple to use- open the mouthpiece, load it up, and turn it on by clicking five times. The device automatically starts heating up to the set temp, which can be changed with the +/- buttons.

The screen displays the current temp and a session timer with large text and the set temp/timer with smaller text. By default, it is set to 240 seconds, but that is adjustable between 180 to 360 seconds, with 30-second increments.

And by the way, since Tronian is made/designed in Germany, the temperature settings are in Celsius by default. To change it to Fahrenheit, hold the power and – buttons together for three seconds.

Performance & Vapor Quality

The Millatron provides an excellent price/performance ratio, and the vapor quality is great when compared to similarly priced vapes.

It took a few seconds to heat up (after the vibration notification), but once heat built up in the oven, the draws were full and flavorful.

It has a wide temp range of 320F-464F, but I used it on 380-390F most of the time. The herb was fully cashed, which means optimal heat distribution inside the oven.

What could have been better?

The mouthpiece. The Tronian uses a twist mouthpiece that opens with a half-a-turn clockwise and closes with a half-a-turn counterclockwise. The mouthpiece and the base have tiny grooves that slide into each other. Right now, the vape is new, and it is working well, but from my experience- sliding parts have the tendency to lose “smoothness” with time and intense use. Sure, it can be cleaned with Alcohol, and the mouthpiece can be replaced, but still, twist designs are not my personal favorite.

Bottom Line

The Tronian lives up to its “budget beast” label and provides good performance and premium features (such as haptic feedback) at a fair, affordable price.

The oven is perfectly sized for a solo session and has a wide, open design that makes cleaning and loading super easy.

The Tronian is probably the best beginner dry herb vape you can get under $100, with coupon code TVG10 for 10% off at vape-smart.
