If the One vaporizer looks familiar, then that is because you are familiar with the Healthy Rips Fury 2 vaporizer. The One is a badge-engineered version of the Fury 2 as well as a few other vapes. Badge engineering is when a manufacturer licenses their product with various distributors who are allowed to put their own spin on the product.
That doesn’t just mean putting their name on the new product, it can also mean a redesign and adding new functionality as well. That is what you are getting with the One. It is a vastly improved version of this model of vaporizer that is practically an all-new product when compared to previous versions.
Kit and Accessories
- Planet of the Vapes One vaporizer
- Glass mouthpiece
- Tweezers + cleaning brush
- Dosing capsule
- Dab tool + concentrate pad
- USB charging cable
Compatibility: The One is compatible with dry herb and wax extracts.
All of you vaping connoisseurs get a lot of optional accessories. There are two different types of glass water bubblers, one straight and one that’s curved, both of which help to cool down the vapor even more. You can switch any of the mouthpieces during the middle of a session, which gives you some extra convenience.
There is also a water pipe adapter that allows you to connect the One to a water bubbler. But if you just want to keep things nice and simple, you can get a curved glass mouthpiece that provides some extra convenience. You can get all of these accessories from Planet of the Vapes.
A high-quality grinder like the SLX can make your vaping experience with the One even better because it grinds your herbs to the perfect consistency.
Design and Features
The One has the box-style design similar to many portable vapes, but it does have some unique attributes that make it stand out from the crowd. One of the first that you notice is the big digital display that fills up the top surface of the device. It shows the temperature, battery, and session time info at a glance. Also, it can be flipped so it can be viewed regardless of how you hold the One.
The One has haptic feedback so it vibrates when heating is complete. The One is very user-friendly because it’s easy to load and switching between the mouthpieces and the various optional attachments is very simple. This vape has a kirksite alloy body with a comfortable, rubberized coating that I’m pretty sure will last a long time. Of course, you are probably wondering about the durability of the glass mouthpiece, well, there’s no need to worry. The glass it’s made from is pretty thick so accidentally breaking it would be pretty difficult.
The One is 3.2 inches tall with the plastic mouthpiece and 3.6 inches with the glass one so portability won’t be a problem. The oven is made of aluminum and can hold 0.15 grams of herb, which is great for solo users but not so much for group sessions. The heating element is made from stainless steel which is powerful but it heats up a little more slowly than the nichrome heaters found in other vaporizers. The temperature range is pretty broad, going from 320°F to 430°F and the interface is very easy to use.
The One has an isolated vapor path, which is unusual but much appreciated, in a vaporizer at this price range. The vapor is separated from the electronics, which helps to keep it pure and flavorful.
Difference From Its Platform Siblings
Unlike its platform predecessors, the One has an aluminum heating chamber and a stainless steel heater instead of the stainless steel ovens and nichrome heaters of the other versions. It also uses a mesh screen instead of a metal screen which provides a big upgrade in vapor quality when combined with the change in heating element and oven materials.
POTV also added haptic feedback and the reversible display, both of which make the One a lot more user-friendly than other versions of this design. Another user-friendly touch is the decision to make it three button presses instead of five to turn on the device.
Another big change is the addition of a whole new set of accessories, particularly the new glass mouthpiece. Like all glass mouthpieces, it provides a long vapor path which helps to cool down the vapor and it’s a neutral material, so it doesn’t affect the flavor of the vapor.
How to Use
- Remove the mouthpiece to expose the herb chamber.
- Fill the chamber with herb and then replace the mouthpiece.
- Press the power button three times to turn on the device.
- Use the control buttons to select the temperature.
- When heating is complete, inhale from the mouthpiece.
Since this is not a pure conduction vaporizer, you don’t want to pack the herbs too tightly in the oven. You want to leave it a little loose so that the air flow can heat up the herbs.
Cleaning and Maintenance
You just need to clean out the chamber using isopropyl alcohol and cotton swabs. Either of the mouthpieces can be cleaned using q-tips and iso alcohol.
Performance and Vapor Quality
The One heats up in about thirty seconds thanks to the stainless steel heater. That is about average for a vape this size. The body of the One never gets too hot while it’s heating either, so it always feels good to hold.
The hybrid conduction/convection heating system of the One means that its vapor quality is in the upper echelon of vaporizers in this price range. Don’t expect flavor quality on par with premium vapes though, the vapor from the One is great, but not quite on that level. The flavor remains consistent during each session and it generates some decent sized clouds as well. I got the best flavor in the 360°F to 380°F range, so that’s where I suggest you start.
The One’s performance with concentrates is just okay. If you are really into wax vaping, then you probably already have a wax pen and I suggest you stick with it. The One is much better as a dry herb vape, so you should only use it with concentrates if you already started a dry herb session and can’t be bothered to break out the vape pen.
The vapor quality is far better with the glass mouthpiece than the plastic one since the vapor stays cooler and purer because of the longer airpath and neutral material. Draw resistance is also lower with the glass mouthpiece, though it’s not too high with the plastic mouthpiece either. It all depends on how much herb you put in the oven, stay within the limits and draw resistance stays low, overstuff it and prepare for your lungs to work a lot harder.
The battery duration of thirty to forty minutes seems disappointing at first, and to be honest it kind of is, but the fast heat time and low draw resistance make for quick sessions. So you can squeeze in six to eight sessions while the battery is alive. When it dies, it takes about ninety minutes to recharge. I would have preferred the battery duration to be longer than the charge time, but you can still get a lot of life out of the One while it’s active.
