Review Summary

The Ooze Verge is the biggest surprise of the year. It performs exceptionally well for a sub $150 vape. It uses three heating systems- convection, conduction, and infrared to heat up the herb in the oven evenly and create a very efficient extraction. It has a .5gr Ceramic oven which is replaceable, and precise temp control. The battery life is on the shorter side, but still, this is easily one of the best dry herb vapes of this year at this price level.

Background

This is the story of an unexpected winner. One that I didn't expect much of, and it ended up extremely surprising me. The Ooze Verge dry herb vaporizer.s

And just to clarify, this review is not sponsored. I do not have a relationship with Ooze and never spoke with anyone at the company. They did not send me this vape. I ordered and paid for it myself because I got multiple review requests. And I'm happy I did because I ended up loving it.

The Ooze Verge retails for $138, and I have a 10% coupon code (TVG10) for Vape-Smart.com.

Design & Features

The Ooze vaporizer is pretty hefty and probably larger than it looks on video or images. Here is how it compares to the Pax Plus or the New G Pen Dash+ that was just released.

The front has a power button, an OLED screen, and plus/minus buttons. The bottom has a charging port, and the sides have two air intake holes. The mouthpiece sits on top, and it is magnetic and snappy.

Triple heating systems

Under the mouthpiece sits the chamber, which is by far the unique feature of this vape. It features three heating systems-

Conduction heat is dispersed throughout the Ceramic base and sides of the oven. Convection heat is generated outside the oven and is pulled in with each inhale, plus infrared energy penetrates into the center of the pod to maximize extraction even further.

Removeable heating element

A triple heating system is unique for sure, but wait, there's more. I'm just kidding. This aint QVC, but seriously, there is one more cool feature here- the entire chamber component can be pulled out and replaced. I've always wished that I could just take out the entire oven section of the Mighty and replace it once it gets old, but obviously, this is not possible with the Mighty.

The oven is static and non-replaceable. The advantages of a removable oven are obvious- easier cleaning, and you can easily replace it with a new one after a while if it's worn out. Effectively giving you a completely new vape. The chambers retail for $30 each.

Loading & usage

The chamber has a capacity of around .5 gr and should be packed tight so heat can be transferred efficiently but not too tight to restrict the airflow. As always, my recommendation is to pack it so that if you wiggle the device, nothing falls off.

Then, five clicks to lock, set the temp, and a short hold to start heating up.

Performance

Now look, at a price level of $140, or actually $120, if you use the coupon code above. I didn't expect much of this vape. And to be quite frank, I was blown away.

It took a couple of draws to warm up, but once it did, the experience was outstanding. The draw resistance is minimal, the vapor production is excellent, and the flavor is way better than expected.

I found 390F to be the best starting temp, and then I gradually increase to 410F.

As you can see in this closeup, at the end of the session, the herb is really a solid brown which means good extraction. There are no green patches, and it looks like the heat is distributed evenly through the oven.

Could have been better

One thing that could have been better is the battery life. I was able to get 3-5 bowls on a full charge which is not a lot. But hey, the thing is powerful, so I wouldn't trade power for battery life. Just keep in mind to plug it in after your second or third session to not get stuck without power. Also, I found that the battery indicator is not very accurate and is more of a rough estimate how the battery level. Sometimes it'll go from 30% to empty in a couple of minutes.

Another minor issue I've had is that the small screen keeps falling off the mouthpiece. This might be a “me” problem because I bang the vape and mouthpiece together when dumping the cashed oven, so the screen keeps falling into my AVB bowl. Regardless, just thought I should mention it.

Bottom line

Overall, I couldn't have asked more for this vape at this price level. As a vaporizer reviewer, I have every vape you can think of. Some of my heave rotators are- Mighty and Crafty+, Pax Plus, Tinymight 2, which I have a review coming soon, and the DaVinci IQ2 Carbon Fiber version. Some of these vapes cost triple the price of the Ooze. So the fact that this vape made it into my “frequently used vapes” means a lot.

It provides exceptional value and is probably the best dry herb vape for under $150.
