Green Roads CBD Oil Background
Green Roads is another company joining the CBD bandwagon, yes, there are a lot of them these days, but they manage to distinguish themselves through the infusion of terpenes into some of their CBD oils. If you don’t want any terpenes, they offer pure CBD oil as well, and they do so in some of the highest concentrations around. Both the terpenes and the CBD oil are in the form of tinctures that you use sublingually—that is, under the tongue—so they don’t require any additional equipment. But if you’re into vaping—which I’m guessing you are—then the CBD oils that are below 550 mg can be vaped.
So what’s so special about terpenes anyway? Well, they are odiferous organic compounds produced by plants and also by some insects. In the case of plants, terpenes are used to deter herbivorous (plant eating) predators or to attract predators or parasites that prey on herbivores. As for insects, they use terpenes as a natural defense mechanism to chase off predatory insects.
Where cannabis is concerned, terpenes give off the strong odor associated with certain strains of marijuana. They are also responsible for some of the effects of marijuana, for example, myrcene—which is one of the more common terpenes in the marijuana plant—is a natural sedative and accounts for the relaxed feeling experienced after marijuana use. The terpene humulene is a natural appetite suppressant, there are many others and Green Roads infuses them into their CBD oil based on the strain of marijuana on which that oil is based. Does this give Green Roads an edge over even the best CBD oils? You’ll find out in the rest of my review.

Normally, I wouldn’t bother with this, but there are a few interesting things worth noting. For one thing, each bottle has a QR code that you can use to access the lab testing results of that strain, which is easier, and more convenient than visiting their website. Next, each bottle of terpenes, and most bottles of the CBD oil, feature droppers with mL measurements marked on the suction tube so that it is much easier to calibrate your dosage. The larger bottles don’t have that feature, instead, they include a measuring syringe.
Either way, this is a nice feature that helps to make Green Roads CBD oils more user-friendly. However, one potential user-friendly feature that they didn’t implement, is informing the user of which types of terpenes are in each bottle and what effect each terpene has. Instead, you need to know which terpenes are in the strain of marijuana on which that terpene bottle is based.
CBD Terpenes: With sublingual administration, the effect of the CBD and the terpenes hits hard and hits fast. If you want to feel the effects of CBD asap and don’t want to go the vaping route, then this method is one of the most effective. The taste of each of the terpene oils is strongly reminiscent of the strain of marijuana it is based on, what’s more, the addition if the terpenes seemed to give a little extra kick to the CBD oil that I haven’t experienced in other products. So, the terpenes are not just a marketing gimmick.
CBD Oil: As for the CBD oil, those high concentrations are impressive—and expensive—but I only went up to the 350 mL concentration. I felt the effects quickly and strongly, so I can only imagine what the higher concentrations feel like, I doubt most normal users will need them, but it is nice to have that option. Another nice option is that all of the oils under the 550 mg concentration level can be vaped as well, which gives them some great crossover appeal to vapers.
