Design and Features

The G Pen Hyer is a unique e-nail designed to be used with your own glass-on-glass water piece. It consists of a battery/control box, a heating chamber, and a heavy-duty braided cable which connects the two pieces. The heating chamber and housing connect to your water bong like any other bowl would, allowing you to use your own water piece to vape concentrates. The battery/control box is the brains of the device and it houses a massive 6000mAh battery. The device has a temperature range of 356-842℉ (180-450°C）and a pre-heat time of 15-45s.

Usage & Interface

The G Pen Hyer has a total temperature range of 356-842℉ (180-450°C), however the actual temperature range will depend on which tank you are using; the dry herb tank or the concentrates tank. For the concentrate tank, you can choose between five settings from 482-842℉ (250-450°C). The LEDs on the Hyer will glow in one of five colors, with each color corresponding to a different temperature setting. To turn the device on or off, press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. The temperature can be changed by simply pressing the left and right adjustment buttons on the Hyer to cycle through the five settings.

Tips

For solventless rosin products and live resin extracts it was best to maintain the lowest setting (Blue) at 482 degrees for forty five seconds to ensure full flavor without burning off the delicate terpenes. A ‘low-temp’ dab, if you will, allows for these chemical compounds with lower combustion points to be fully absorbed into your lungs, not burnt off before you can benefit from them. At that range you’re getting the most medicinal properties from the plant, as well.

Performance & Vapor Quality

The concentrates tank with the Hyer is amazing, especially since you can run it through your own glass and water cool the vapor. The flavor and vapor that you get from this setup is full and intense. It’s quickly become a favorite e-nail to use, but only when at home. The dry herb tank is equally as good as the concentrates tank and that was surprising. Running a dry herb vape through a water piece is something that’s been missed, so it was nice to experience it with the Hyer again.

What could have been better

The anodized finish scratches quite easily, but otherwise there are no complaints about the build quality. The battery itself is a bit bulky and heavy, and the tank housing is quite heavy too. Plus, you have to bring your glass water piece with you to use it outside of the house so there is some portability sacrificed with this device.

Comparison on other vaporizers

Compared to other vaporizers, the G Pen Hyer stands out due to its unique design and the ability to use it with your own water piece. It also offers the ability to use either concentrates or dry herb (by purchasing the tank which is sold separately), which is a big pro for the Hyer. They both perform equally well, delivering excellent flavor, and effects with nice and clean vapor due to being ran through a water piece.

Bottomline

Overall, the Hyer is a well-constructed, nicely designed, and solid device. The freedom to use your own water pieces is a big and unique feature of the Hyer, so at-home-use is really where it’s at with this e-nail. The Hyer has quickly become one of the favorite e-nails ever. If you like the idea of water cooling your concentrates (or dry herb) using your own water piece, the Hyer is highly recommended.
