G Pen Elite Background
The Elite is the portable, ergonomically designed dry herb vaporizer from G Pen. Or rather, one of the portable, ergonomically designed dry herb vaporizers from G Pen, because they specialize in this sort of thing. Granted, they’ve branched out into extract vaping with the Nova and Gio, but they use a lot of the same principles from their weed vapes in those devices.
Those principles include an unprecedented ease of use, very simple loading, and great vapor quality, in other words, the same principles you see in the best weed vapes. The Elite is an exemplary example of those design principles, though it includes a few unique attributes that make it stand out. Continue reading to see just what they are.

How It Is Designed
I use the word ergonomic to describe how the Elite looks and feels because that is the perfect description for it. The only thing that fits more comfortably in your hand is a glove, every curve on the Elite is in the perfect position and the rubber covering the body means that you never have to worry about it slipping out of your hand.
You never have to worry about slipping it into your pocket either, because the Elite is small and slim enough to fit there comfortably. The buttons used to control the power and the temperature are slightly raised from the surface, which makes them easy to hit on purpose, but not by accident. Needless to say, it feels very good to hold. Vaping from it feels good too, even though the somewhat flat mouthpiece is not my favorite.
Loading is a simple procedure, all you do is pop off the mouthpiece, place your herb in the chamber, replace the mouthpiece and you’re done. Popping off the mouthpiece can take some effort, but at least you know that it’s secure. The Elite has an LED screen that clearly shows you the temperature and battery info, which is like the cherry on top of a well-designed sundae.
How It Performs
The Elite is a mid-range vaporizer in terms of price but its vapor quality is more high end, it tastes great and I felt the effects of the THC pretty quickly. It doesn’t produce too much vapor, which is great for covert vaping, so I don’t really count that as a negative. It also heats up surprisingly fast, it only takes ninety seconds to reach any of the temperatures in the Elite’s range of 200°F to 428°F.
I got the best flavor in the 365°F to 375°F range, any higher and the vapor gets hot because of the short vapor path. So I would suggest that you start there and use long, slow draws when you do, especially since the Elite’s draw resistance is so low. You’ll be drawing a lot too, because the Elite’s herb chamber is rather large—capable of holding 0.75 g of herb—considering the small size of the rest of the unit.
Battery: The Elite’s battery lasts for a relatively short amount of time, about 45 to 60 minutes, which is good for about four to six sessions. However, the charge time is pretty long too, at roughly two to three hours, so plan accordingly.
The Final Word
The G Pen Elite is a rock-solid mid-range vape that has a lot of pros and very few cons. It looks and feels good, it is very easy to use, and it produces better vapor than its price would indicate. It’s also very easy to carry around, so you can take it pretty much everywhere, and vape nearly everywhere since it doesn’t produce too much attention-getting vapor.
The only downside is the battery, the charge time is very long and it doesn’t last as long as you might like, though you can get a fair amount of sessions out of it. Overall, this is a great vaporizer whether you’re a veteran or a newbie.
