Pulsar APX Wax Review

The Good: Delivers strong hits | Near instant heat time | Extremely portable | Very easy to use | Great battery life

The Bad: Hits might be too strong for some | Only one voltage setting

The Bottom Line: I like how I can take the Pulsar APX Wax anywhere and vape whenever I’m ready. It offers an impressive level of convenience, though it comes at the cost of customization. The vapor is a little strong for my liking, but those who like their vapor that way might like the APX Wax.

Kit and Accessories

  • Pulsar APX Wax
  • Borosilicate glass mouthpiece
  • Dab tool + silicone wax container
  • USB charging cable

Compatibility: The Pulsar APX Wax is, to no one’s surprise, only compatible with wax. If you want to vape some dry herb instead, then consider the Pulsar APX V2.

Design and Features

Pulsar APX Wax Design
The APX Wax has a simple, compact design that is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.

General Design: The APX Wax has a pretty standard vape mod design, only it’s a whole lot smaller. It’s a pretty simple device that only uses one button and only has one voltage setting, so it’s a good choice for beginners, or for anyone who likes quick and dirty session. It has four LED lights on the front that indicate the battery level, which is a nice, useful touch.

Portability: This is easily the biggest strength of the APX Wax. At just 3.5 inches in height, it can fit anywhere, even with the glass mouthpiece attached. Even though it is available in a lot of wild colors and finishes, it’s still a pretty discreet wax vape overall. In fact, it’s a lot more discreet than most vape-pens, which generally don’t call attention to themselves.

Build Quality: The APX Wax is made of tough, durable plastic, while the glass mouthpiece is composed of borosilicate. The manufacturing quality of the entire unit is pretty solid and the glass fits snugly over the atomizer without feeling too loose.

Cleaning and Maintenance

The quartz coils should be cleaned using a q-tip dipped in isopropyl alcohol. The same goes for the glass mouthpiece, just wipe down the inside of it if any residue starts to build-up.

How to Use

  1. Remove the glass mouthpiece, dab your wax onto the coils, and then replace the mouthpiece.
  2. Press the power button five times to turn on the device.
  3. Hold down the power button to initiate heating.
  4. Inhale from the mouthpiece while holding down the power button.

You can find the official instruction manual right here.

Voltage Setting: The APX Wax only has a single, unspecified voltage setting.

Performance and Vapor Quality

Pulsar APX Wax Atomizer
The triple quartz coils produce intense hits and big clouds to go along with them.

Vaporizer Performance: The heat time of the APX Wax is practically instantaneous, so you can take a hit whenever you want without any preamble. Since hits are short and sharp with this vaporizer, it doesn’t really have much time to get too hot while you hold it.

Vapor Quality: I don’t know what the default voltage setting is on this vape, but it seems to be calibrated to deliver pretty strong hits. That shouldn’t be much of a surprise since the APX Wax uses a triple quartz coil. I guess Pulsar figured that since people likely won’t be using this for longer sessions, then they should make the occasional hits pretty intense. I can’t argue with that logic, but if you’re used to milder, more flavorful vapor, then you’ll find this too strong, no matter how short and infrequent the hits may be.

Battery Performance: The APX Wax has an 1100 mAh battery that lasts for about ninety minutes. But with the intermittent way the APX is meant to be used, you can go for a few days before the battery dies. When it does eventually die, you only need to wait about ninety minutes before it’s recharged.

Pulsar APX Wax vs G Pen Nova vs Cloud V Flash Vaporizer

The Nova is a very affordable wax vape pen that is also compatible with dry herb, though its wax performance is superior. It’s also the most inexpensive vape here. The Flash costs the same as the APX but it uses a ceramic atomizer that holds a heck of a lot of wax. Plus it has four voltage settings, which is the highest of the three vapes here. The APX does have the strongest battery though, it has a greater capacity than the other two combined.

Bottom Line

Pulsar APX Wax Review Bottom Line

The Pulsar APX Wax is a pretty solid wax vaporizer that’s perfect for anyone who likes quick, strong hits every now and then. The triple quartz coil and fast heat time both make it perfect for that kind of function. The small, very portable friendly size helps a lot as well. The lack of voltage settings might put off vapers who like some customization, but it’s a good choice for everyone else.

Who is it for: Vapers who like convenience and portability even if vapor quality is lacking.

Who is it NOT for: Anyone who prefers milder wax vaping. People who like longer sessions or a higher level of customization.

  1. Great device but the top of the glass mouth piece broke when I was putting it back in the case… it’s bs

  2. My only issue is cleaning and it seams to leak wax. Out of side vents

  3. WHEN it works it works great. I used it traveling for discretion. Every trip I took it on I had coils fail, leaving me sober and extremely frustrated. Sure you could vary extra coils but they should last more than a dozen uses. Plan on spending twice as much on coils as you will purchasing the unit.
