How to Make THC E-Liquid

Preparing your own THC e-liquid comes with its own set of challenges and advantages. While there is no dearth of readymade and branded THC e-liquid the true vaping enthusiasts eventually prefer the home- made product. This is because it gives them the leeway to decide the quality, flavor and the concentration of THC in the e-liquid. Talking about the whole process of making your own THC, the least that can be said is that it is an elaborate one and calls for your patience. However, the results that you get from the home-made e-liquids are equally enthralling. So, let’s discuss in detail the processes involved in the making of your own THC e-liquid.

The Two Phase Process

Though every seasoned vaping enthusiast may have a different way to develop a THC e-liquid at home, the process that we will be discussing in the article is a twofold method and produces the best quality material. While the first phase of this process involves creation of a potent cannabis concentrate, the second phase is related to dispersion of this concentrate into e-liquid. The end result that you get from this dual process is not only equivalent to the e-juices found in e-cigarettes, but also has custom flavor and concentration. One thing that makes this process of making THC e-liquid different from others is the use of EJ Mix that transforms cannabis concentrates into liquid. The e-liquid made by using EJ mix gives better results than any other e-liquid. The vapor that you get from the e-liquid made by this process is richer in taste and does not tend to clog your atomizer. It only takes 1-2ml of this e-liquid for a fulfilling vaping session.

The Ingredients

Before talking about the real process of making a THC e-juice, let’s note down the ingredients and equipment required.

  • High Quality Loose Leaf Bud: 3.5 grams
  • Stove Pot
  • EJ Mix: Go for the PG400 variety of EJ Mix as it is heavier than any other suspension. It does a much better job of suspending psychoactive material than any other PG version.
  • High Proof Grain Alcohol: It extracts the essential elements of your material efficiently.
  • Blunt Tip Syringes: To transfer the liquid in a mess fee and efficient manner.
  • Dropper Bottles: These will be used to store the e-liquid produces. It is advisable to go for opaque bottles as they prevent direct contact with sunlight.
  • Coffee Filter: To filter the e-liquid
  • Parchment Paper: To decarboxylate the loose leaf
  • Two Large Mason Jars: Used to store large quantities of THC e-liquid. As exposure to sunlight can degrade the THC, always go for opaque mason jars.

Once you are ready with all the ingredients and equipment, you can start the process of making your own THC e-liquid. Before you start to work, make sure that your work place has enough ventilation. Also, it is highly recommended that you only use an electronic stove that does not emit any open flame.

Step 1

This step includes several sub-processes ranging from decarboxylating the bud to filtering the concentrate produced. The end result that you get from the first step is a dark thick oil.

First of all grind your material finely and then place it on a baking try covered with parchment paper. Now the material is ready to be decarboxylated. To initiate this process, preheat your oven to about 220 degrees Fahrenheit and place the baking tray in it. Heat it at the same temperature for about half an hour or till the color of the bud changes to light brown.

In the next step, place the decarboxylated loose leaf in the mason jars and pour the high proof alcohol in it till the material is fully submerged in it. Ideally, your loose leaf should be at least half an inch deep within the alcohol. Then close the lid of the jar tightly and place in a cool, dark place for at least two days. The longer you keep them there, the better it is. However, it is advisable to give the jar a little shake every day so that the essential ingredients are extracted.

Wait for at least two day before you take out the mason jars. When you bring out the mason jars, be ready with the second mason jar, two blunt syringes and a coffee filter. Now it is time to filter the mixture. Unscrew the blunt tip needles from your two syringes, remove the plunger from one of them and insert half a coffee filter inside. This step increases filtration while minimizing losses which would be absorbed by normal filtration methods.

To make sure that you get the best-filtered material, suck the liquid from the mason jar with the help of the normal syringe and squeeze it into the syringe with the coffee filter. Now take empty this syringe with the coffee filter in the second jar with the help of the plunger. Once you have emptied the first jar into the second one, seal the second mason jar and place it in a freezer for at least 48 hours. This process settles the unwanted contents at the bottom of the jar and thus increases the purity of your liquid.

After two days take out the jar from the freezer and allow the mixture to heat up to room temperature. Do not heat the mixture directly as it may lead to an explosion. Once the mixture is reaches the room temperature, pour some water in the jar and start heating it up on the stove. Heat up the mixture just under a boil to boil of all the alcohol present in the mixture. Now you have reached halfway into the whole process and should be left with a dark, thick oil at the bottom of the jar.

Step 2

Step two of the process is rather simple and easy and only involves mixing the EJ Mix into the oil produced in the previous section. All you have to do is fill the mason jar containing the oil halfway with water. Now take a fresh syringe and add 1ml of EJ Mix for each gram of the concentrate. Here, you can increase or decrease the quantity of EJ Mix as per your won taste. You can also add your favorite flavors at this step. Once this is done, heat up the mixture just under boil so that the EJ Mix and the oil get dissolved completely. Now your THC e-liquid is ready to be transferred to a dropper bottle for storage.

Making your THC e-liquid is a rather simple process, but calls for a little bit of your patience. However, the flavor and potency that you get from homemade THC e-liquid makes it a worthwhile exercise. So, if you are looking for a personalized vaping experience, this is the way to go.
