9.4 Total Score
G Pen Gio Review Bottom Line

The G Pen Gio is an oil vaporizer that uses proprietary oil cartridges. This is one of the most popular trends in the vaping world right now and the Gio is a great way to experience it. The ease of use, convenience, and big flavor of the Gio will show you why pre-filled oil cartridges are blowing up right now. So, if you’re a newcomer or a veteran to oil vaping, you should give the G Pen Gio a try.

G Pen Gio Background

Pre-filled oil cartridges are the hottest thing in the vaporizer market right now and the G Pen Gio ($29.95 directly from G Pen, use coupon code TVG10 to save 10%) is here to turn the heat up even further. So what sets the Gio apart from all the other Great Oil Vape Pens vying for your attention?

You’ll get more details in the rest of my G Pen Gio review but I can tell you that convenience and ease of use are a big factor. That’s the reason why this segment is blowing up right now so keep reading to find out if the Gio is worth your time and money.

G Pen Gio Availability Note

As popular as these pre-filled oil vaporizers have become, they aren’t yet available everywhere in America and, unfortunately, the G Pen Gio is no exception. Currently the Gio and its proprietary oil cartridges are only available to residents of Colorado and California. So if you happen to be a resident (or a neighboring resident), great. Planning to visit, good. If you live elsewhere, you’re out of luck for now.

Fortunately marijuana laws are always changing so there’s always the possibility that the availability of the Gio and other pre-filled cartridge vapes could expand. I’ll be sure to keep you apprised of any changes so check back regularly to find out about any new developments.

G Pen Gio Kit

  • G Pen Gio battery
  • USB cable

That’s it, if you’re new to the world of oil pod vaporizers, most of them have similarly spartan kits. That simplicity is a big part of their appeal so don’t let the meagre kit fool you.

G Pen Gio Design

The G Pen Gio is made from zinc alloy and has a comfortable and cool-looking ergonomic design. The zinc alloy housing means that this is a pretty tough vaporizer and the design really stands out among the various oil vape pens out there; it turns out that these small portable vaporizers don’t all have to look like USB sticks!

The Gio is about the size of your average e-cigarette so it’s super portable. It can fit pretty much anywhere so there’s a pretty good chance it could become your new favorite accessory. The standard black color looks good and is nice and discreet, however if you don’t mind standing out a bit more, you can pick up the special blue and white Cookies edition. It looks great too but it’s not as low profile as the stealthy black finish, so choose accordingly.

How to Use the G Pen Gio

  1. Insert a proprietary G Pen cartridge into the battery.
  2. Inhale from the mouthpiece.

Yep, that’s it. Simple and intuitive.

Performance and Vapor Quality of the G Pen Gio

The G Pen Gio oil vaporizer produces impressive and flavorful vapor with the two strains I tried, Jack Herer and Lemon Poundcake. The draw is a little laggy but it never becomes clogged and congested. The Gio might be subtle but the huge clouds it produces sure aren’t, the conspicuous vapor really stands out.

Another reason these closed system pods are taking off is that you can take a quick hit whenever you want since the heating is instant. The oil I tried is great but there could be more variety, fortunately that’s coming. Aside from Cookies SF, G Pen has partnered with Evo Lab, Pistil Point, and TJ’s to produce more strains of oil.

The Gio delivers great flavor no matter the type of oil you use.

Battery life is good too, the 180 mAh battery is good for about 100 puffs. The battery charges in about 2 hours, which is pretty long for a battery this small. You’ll need to plan ahead if you decide to take the G Pen oil vaporizer on a trip with you.

G Pen Gio USB port
The USB port charges the Gio in an average of two hours.

G Pen Gio vs Pax Era

The Pax Era is what started this trend in the first place so it’s pretty legit. That also means that it has a wider variety of oil to choose from. The G Pen looks and feels a lot better though.

G Pen Gio Review: Final Thoughts

The G Pen Gio ($29.95 directly from G Pen, use coupon code TVG10 to get a 10% discount) is a great introduction to the world of the closed system oil pod vaporizer. After one use, you’ll see why the convenience, simplicity, and big flavor in a small package is so appealing to both beginner and veteran vapers.

There’s pretty much no learning curve involved, something even some of the Best Oil Vaporizers can’t claim. So if you want to be a part of the latest trend in vaping, the Gio is a great place to start. Jump in before the hipsters can claim that they were into these oil vaporizer cartridge systems before everybody else.

Thanks for reading my G Pen Gio review, hopefully it’s availability expands beyond California and Colorado soon.

A huge proponent of the vaping lifestyle who would love it if everyone who smokes makes the switch to vaping instead. Loves CBD and would like to see it infused into everything. Aside from the world of vaping, he also loves reading, health & fitness, gadgets & technology, and culture, both the pop and regular kind.

  1. You forgot to say that the gio has no temperature control.
This was a huge deal breaker for me because it’s burning my throat.

  2. I was wondering if you’ve tried Stiiizy? I’ve been trying to find a Stiiizy vs Gio Pod review but can’t. How would you say they compare if you have tried Stiiizy?

  3. Love this thing, I’ve been running it for about 6 months now and haven’t even thought about switching. I’m rough on my things, dropped, smashed, kicked across the parking lot, it seams this is the Navy Seal of the segment. Anyways, on to the smoke, don’t need to take long draws, nice quick little hits(although you can, just gets chalkier). They are always consistent, I highly recommend this to anyone that is trying to be low key with their smoking, or just wants a cool piece that rips consistently.
