Petri Sub-Ohm Tank by Dotmod Review:
Petri Sub-Ohm ($49.99 from VaporDNA) tank is the newest product offered by Dotmod. They are known for their matching pair of hybrid mechanical tube mod and rebuildable dripping atomizer offered in pretty colors. Not only it is super gorgeous, it is also easy to use! The Petri Sub-Ohm tank comes in two form factors, a sub-ohm tank and RTA (rebuildable tank atomizer). Today we will focus on the sub-ohm tank form factor.
Petri Sub-Ohm Tank Features:
The Petri Sub-Ohm tank is a 22mm sub-ohm tank atomizer which is a common diameter size when it comes to atomizers. It features an easy top-fill system and has a 1.9ml juice capacity. The airflow on this atomizer is also very generous and you can freely adjust it to your liking. The tank’s top cap and coil head threads are protected by PEEK insulators which provides excellent heat resistance. My favorite feature of this tank is the coil head compatibility. This atomizer uses coil heads that are compatible with the Aspire Atlantis, Triton, and cCell coils. These coil heads have the best compatibility to a lot of sub-ohm tanks.
Here’s what’s included in the package:
- One Dotmod Petri Sub-Ohm Tank
- One 0.5ohm Twisted Coil (for regular vaping)
- One 0.5ohm SS 316 Coil (for temperature mode)
- Additional Glass Tank Section
- Additional Acrylic Drip Tip Sleeve
- O-Ring Pack
Petri Sub-Ohm Tank Design:
This sub-ohm tank is a standard atomizer with a 510-threaded connection which is compatible with any vape mods or batteries. The entire metal parts of the Petri Sub-Ohm tank are made of brass and plated 4x with 24-karat gold to ensure durability, better electrical conduction, and of course, swag. As I have mentioned earlier, the tank is 22mm in diameter and is 39mm in height from base to the top without drip tip. Both the top cap and air flow control has to knurl so that it will be easier for you to have a grip on them. However, the drip tip on this tank is not the standard 510 drip tip that we’re used to so you’re pretty much stuck with the one included unless a third-party manufacturer makes one.
Petri Sub-Ohm Tank Performance and Vapor Quality:
The Petri Sub-Ohm tank gives out great flavor and decent vapor production depending on what coils you use. I must also let you know that this tank sits flush on all the mods I fitted it on. During the time when I was using this atomizer, it never showed any signs of poor connection with the mod. The included coil heads were great even with thick high VG e-liquids.
How to use the Petri Sub-Ohm Tank:
Basically, this tank works just like any other sub-ohm tanks in the market. The coils included are rated to 35-40 watts and it’s cross-compatible with Atlantis, Triton, and Vaporesso cCell coil heads. As a reminder, you should always prime the coil heads with e-liquid before using them. Make sure that the cotton is saturated with juice to avoid burnt cotton. Also, coil heads sometimes need a break-in period to achieve its full potential of performance. The break-in period with this tank in my experience is after 1 full tank.
The Vape Guide Recommends the Petri Sub-Ohm Tank for:
Petri Sub-Ohm tank is recommended to all vapers from beginner to advanced if you don’t mind the slightly higher price point. This will definitely put swag on your setup.
