DaVinci Miqro Review
TVG reviews products
The Good: Good vapor quality | Very high portability | Removable battery | Easy to clean and maintain
The Bad: Poor battery life | Device can get hot during use | Vapor can get harsh
The Bottom Line: The DaVinci Miqro is a masterful engineering achievement that misses the mark as a vaporizer. A smaller version of an already small vaporizer just means that it runs hotter and has a shorter battery life, which makes it impractical for most users. Most users are better off choosing the slightly larger DaVinci IQ instead.
$150 – $200 Visit DaVinci
The Miqro comes in two different versions, the Explorer’s collection for $200, and the standard version for $150. Here is what you get in each version.
Explorer’s Collection Kit
- DaVinci Miqro
- Carry can w/ extra 18350 battery
- Extended mouthpiece
- Carrying case
- USB cable + cleaning kit
- Grinder card
- DaVinci Miqro
- Extended mouthpiece
- USB cable + cleaning kit
Compatibility: The Miqro is a dry herb only vaporizer
Mouthpiece Options: The Miqro includes both a flat mouthpiece and an extended mouthpiece
- The flat mouthpiece is better for portability and hygiene because the recessed design will stay clean even if it’s in a tight space like a pocket. However, vaping from it is not as comfortable and the short airpath fails to adequately cool down the vapor.
- The extended mouthpiece feels more comfortable when inhaling and its length helps to slightly cool down the vapor. Its exposed nature means that it is easier to get dirty than the flat mouthpiece though.
Chamber Capacity: The Miqro has a zirconia pearl inside the oven cover that can be used to reduce the size of the chamber by up to 40%.
Good grinders are always desired no matter the size of the vaporizer and the SLX Grinder, available from Amazon, can effectively serve weed vapes of any size or scale.
Design and Features
The Miqro is basically a smaller IQ in terms of looks and overall design, which means that it has the same sleek, pocket-friendly shape and even the nice light grid on the front, though the Miqro has fifteen LED lights instead of fifty one like the IQ.
The Miqro even has some improvements over the IQ, both feature a zirconia pearl on the inside of the oven cover that is used to evenly distribute heat and adjust the size of the oven. However, the pearl in the Miqro feels much firmer and more secure, than the one in the IQ. Removing and replacing the battery and the mouthpieces are both quick and easy procedures in the Miqro.
Build Quality: The Miqro obviously doesn’t have the same hefty feel of the larger IQ but it still feels like a solidly built device. As with the IQ, the Miqro also has a zirconia airpath to ensure that the vapor remains pure.
Cleaning and Maintenance
The smaller size of the Miqro means that there is less of it to clean, so its maintenance is overall pretty low. Plus it has fewer parts than the IQ so cleaning is overall much faster, you just need to dip the mouthpieces in isopropyl alcohol to clean them. As for the oven, the included cleaning kit will take care of it in a flash, so you’ll spend most of your time with the Miqro vaping instead of cleaning.
Smart Path Mode
The Smart Path mode is one of the best features of the IQ so DaVinci made sure that the Miqro has it too. This mode gradually increases the temperature by twenty degrees as you vape, drawing out all the cannabinoids so you get full spectrum vaping. The Smart Paths are the same as they are in the IQ:
- Smart Path 1: 350°F – 370°F
- Smart Path 2: 370°F – 390°F
- Smart Path 3: 390°F – 410°F
- Smart Path 4: 410°F – 430°F
The only difference is that the Miqro doesn’t have a smartphone app to control the paths, which also means that they are not customizable. You need to use the buttons on the device to use this mode, it isn’t difficult but the smartphone app is clearly faster and easier to use.
How to Use
- Open the herb chamber, fill it with herb, and then close it up.
- (Optional) Adjust the oven size using the pearl in the oven.
- Click the control button 5x to power up the Miqro in Smart Path mode, click it again to switch heating modes.
- Use the up/down buttons to choose the temperature or smart path and start the heating process.
- Once heating is complete, inhale from your choice of mouthpiece to start vaping.
You can see the official user manual here.
Heating Options: The Miqro has three heating modes:
- The precision mode allows you to select the exact temperature you want to vape at.
- Smart Paths mode gradually increases the temperature while you vape.
- Boost mode maxes out the temperature as you hold down the power button.
Performance and Vapor Quality
Performance: The Miqro heats up in about forty seconds, which is pretty good for such a small vaporizer. One big problem with the Miqro being such a small vaporizer is that it can get quite hot during use because there is no outlet for the excess heat. This is a problem common to all small vaporizers so the Miqro is not any different in that regard. Nevertheless, it is a problem that limits the Miqro’s usability and makes it feel impractical most of the time.
Vapor Quality: The poor heat distribution means that the vapor can get hot and uncomfortable while the Miqro is in use. Even the heat-resistant zirconia airpath isn’t enough to keep all that heat inside such a small body. The actual flavor of the vapor is good, but you’ll struggle to notice it over the harsh feeling you get towards the end of sessions.
Battery Performance: This is easily the weakest feature of the Miqro because the removable 900 mAh 18350 battery doesn’t last for more than thirty minutes. That is less than half the time of most other vapes (Pax & IQ are 3500mAh), the only upside to this is that the battery only takes about an hour to charge. So, you’ll need to have a few fresh batteries on standby if you want to have longer sessions with the Miqro.
DaVinci Miqro vs DaVinci IQ vs Pax 3 vs Arizer Air 2
|DaVinci Miqro||Pax 3||Davinci IQ|

|Dry herb, Wax||Dry herb|
|Battery Life||20 to 30 minutes||90 minutes||90 minutes|

|Price||$199 directly from DaVinci||$249.99 directly from Pax Vapor||$274.99 directly from DaVinci|
The Miqro is a nice feat of engineering, packing so many of the IQ’s best features into such a small package can’t have been easy. However, the short battery life, and the fact that it runs hot, which heats up the vapor, means that the Miqro isn’t all that practical.
Who is it for: Vapers who want a more affordable version of the IQ. Users who consider a small size their highest priority.
Who is it NOT for: If you don’t mind a slightly larger vape, the Pax and IQ are better options. If you vape mostly at home, then the Solo 2 or Mighty are two more to consider.
