Arizer Air 2 Review: A Few Key Upgrades for this Classic Dry Herb Vaporizer

9.2 Total Score
Arizer Air 2 Review Bottom Line

The Arizer Air 2 offers a few improvements over the original Air, like granular temperature control and a bright, clear OLED screen. Also, it retains the features that made the original Air great, like the swappable battery and borosilicate mouthpieces. All of that in a portable dry herb vaporizer that gives you amazing flavor and more vapor than other weed vapes in its size range. Whether or not you've used original Air, the Arizer Air 2 is worth a try.

Arizer Air 2 Background

Arizer already made a superior follow up to one of their classic herb vaporizers with the Arizer Solo 2, now they’re also getting up to speed with the Arizer Air 2 dry herb vaporizer ($229.95 from Vape-Smart, coupon code TVG10 gets you 10% off). The Air 2 is good enough to challenge the Solo 2 and the Solo 2 hangs in there with the Best Dry Herb Vaporizers available—so that’s really saying something for the new Air 2.

The Air 2 improves on the original with a bright, new OLED screen and better battery life. It still has all the great things about the original Air like the swappable batteries and glass airpath. To find out what else is great about this weed vape, check out the rest of my Arizer Air 2 review for details on its kit, design, and performance.

Arizer Air 2 Kit

The Arizer Air 2 has a pretty comprehensive package with a bunch of accessories, here’s what you get:

  • The Arizer Air 2 dry herb vaporizer
  • 70 mm glass mouthpiece + 70 mm glass mouthpiece w/ tip
  • Silicone stem caps
  • Removable 18650 battery
  • Aromatherapy dish + aromatherapy sample
  • USB charger w/ wall adapter

That is a lot of stuff, so what’s missing? Just a good grinder to grind up your herb. The SLX grinder grind up those buds to a fine consistency that vaporizers love.

Key Features of the Arizer Air 2

The Arizer Air 2 weed vape has similar features to the Solo 2, and the original Air of course, here they are:

  • Compatible w/ dry herb
  • Long, glass mouthpieces for cool, pure flavor
  • Removable 18650 battery for convenience
  • Wide temperature range: 122°F – 428°F
  • Can double as an aromatherapy device

Arizer Air 2 battery Review
The removable battery on the Arizer Air 2 vape is a convenient feature that allows you to quickly replace it with a new one when necessary.

Arizer Air 2 Design

The Arizer Air 2 is 4.88 inches tall and 1.13 inches in diameter and for all you geeky vapers out there, it strongly resembles a certain weapon from a galaxy far, far away! For all you non-geeks, that means it feels really good to hold, whether you’re vaping from it or swinging it around in an intergalactic battle.

The OLED screen is bright and clearly displays battery and temperature info. The Air 2 is small enough to slip into a pocket but only if you remove the glass mouthpiece, otherwise it’s way too long. Good thing they included a carry case, it’s pretty useful if you want to remain discreet and it has pockets to hold the mouthpiece and an extra battery.

The Air 2 is also very low maintenance, just pour out your AVB from the herb chamber when done, no cleanup necessary. The included cleaning tool can scrape any herb residue from the mouthpieces. If you need to clean them, just dip the stems in a little pool of isopropyl alcohol until residue disintegrates. If necessary, dab a cotton swab with alcohol to remove stubborn residue.

The carry case can easily hold the Arizer Air 2. It can also hold both mouthpieces or a mouthpiece and an extra battery.

Using the Arizer Air 2

The Arizer Air 2 is a lot easier to use than the original Air because of the granular temperature control and OLED screen. Here’s how to get started:

  1. Power up the Air 2 by holding down the power button for 3 seconds.
  2. Choose your temperature using the up and down arrows.
  3. Place the base of the mouthpiece into your herb, remove it and tap the packed herb slightly to create a slight gap between the herb and the base opening.
  4. Put the mouthpiece on the herb chamber and inhale to enjoy the vapor.

Steps 1 and 2 should be done first when the device is new because it makes the mouthpiece easier to insert. Once you’ve broken in the Air 2 after a few uses, you can start with step 3 and then follow the power up and temp selection sequence.

Loading the herb chamber using the glass mouthpiece is a quick and simple procedure.

Arizer Air 2 Performance and Vapor Quality

The Arizer Air 2 produces terrific flavor and way more vapor than I expected, especially compared to other dry herb vapes. The borosilicate mouthpieces help since the long airpath helps cool down the vapor and the glass is a neutral material that keeps the herb flavor pure.

Enjoying that sweet vapor is really easy since the draw resistance is better than the original Air—long-time Air fans will notice. Heating time is faster than the original but it still takes 90 seconds to reach max heat—kind of a long time in vape-world, but the awesome vapor quality is worth the wait.

Battery and Charging

  • Battery Type – 18650 Li ion
  • Battery Duration – 60 -75 minutes = 6-8 sessions
  • Charge Time – 3-4 hours
  • Pass through charging – Yes

The borosilicate mouthpieces produce cool, flavorful vapor because of the length of the airpath and neutrality of the glass.

Arizer Air 2 vs Similar Vapes

Arizer Air 2 vs The Crafty

The Crafty is another powerful portable that produces crisp, flavorful vapor. It’s a little more convenient than the Air 2 since it has a unibody design so you don’t need to find room for any mouthpieces. However, the Crafty only offers granular temp control via a smartphone app, while the Air 2 can do so on the device itself. The Crafty also has a weaker battery even though a recent update gave it a decent boost.

Arizer Air 2 vs Arizer Solo 2

It’s a family feud! Well, more like an amicable sibling rivalry. The Arizer Solo 2 is basically a bigger, less portable version of the Air 2. It has even longer glass mouthpieces that produce cool, pure, great tasting vapor. The Solo 2 also has a more powerful heater and battery, so it heats up faster and lasts longer than the Air 2. The Solo 2 can’t touch the Air 2 when it comes to portability though, since the Solo 2 is pretty much a big stay-at-home vape. For more details check out my Air 2 vs Solo 2 comparison.

Arizer Air 2 vs Solo 2
Both the Arizer Air 2 (L) and the Arizer Solo 2 (R) have glass mouthpieces to help cool down the vapor. The stem with tapered plastic tip is exclusive to the Air 2.

Arizer Air 2 Review: Final Thoughts

If you’re interested in the Solo 2 but think it’s too big for you then consider the Arizer Air 2 ($229.95 from Vape-Smart, use coupon code TVG10 to save 10%). It’s like a smaller, sleeker version of the Arizer Solo 2 that you can take on hiking trips, picnics, wherever. It has similar features like the borosilicate glass mouthpieces that cool down and preserve the vapor’s flavor and also facilitate easy herb loading.

The Air 2 is way more portable with a removable battery that adds to the convenience, you can have an extra one or two charged and ready to go when the current one dies. The only thing that hurts portability a little is the aforementioned glass mouthpiece, which you’ll have to remove when carrying around the Air 2. It’s a small sacrifice for vapor this good.

The Air 2 gives you fantastic vapor quality, decent portability, ease of use, and low maintenance. Even some of the Best Dry Herb Vaporizers around don’t give you all of that. If you like that combination of features then give the Arizer Air 2 a try.
